January 12, 2024, became a special day because for the first time Lokananta collaborated with the Indonesian Film Archivist Society to make a layar tancap screening in the Lokananta building which is now Lokananta Bloc.
Lokananta, which is known as an audio recording company, as well as a cultural heritage that has a long history, especially in the national music scene, was transformed into a space for the film community to gather and discuss with each other regarding film archiving and saving Indonesian film archives.
The work of Nya’ Abbas Akup, entitled “Kipas-Kipas Cari Angin” became one of the films that opened the event entitled Community Gathering. The audience could also see the process of 16mm celluloid film being screened on an Elmo 16mm projector. After the screening, the discussion was crowded with various curiosities related to the archiving work carried out by IFAS friends and other collaborators such as Render.id, Puloraya Digitalization Team.
Interestingly from the data obtained by IFAS during the event, the audience was mostly 20-30 years old. Where most of them are undergraduate and graduate students who are studying or active in the community in the city of Solo and its surroundings. Which of course this event became one of the memorable events because in addition to being able to see the technical process of celluloid film screening. They also met directly with preservators who came from outside Solo.
In addition, this activity also emphasizes Lokananta’s new function not only as a music museum and a hangout for young people, but also as a fun educational space for people from all walks of life.
